Choose your battles.....instead of harping on the kids all the time I choose what's really important. Then they really stop and listen instead of having the "here we go again" attitude.
- Be Patient
Remember that you were once a kid too. Be patient and be understanding!
- Little Person Respect
I think it's important to let your children know that they are respected, regardless of their behavior.
- Just try and remember what it was like when you were young. We have a tendency to forget.
- Give in to strange food requests now and then.
- Ways to Send Your Child’s Self-Esteem Soaring
Find fun things to do with your kids to build togetherness and encourage bonding: Assemble jigsaw puzzles; Go on a picnic; Do craft activities; Dance with your children to their favorite jams; write and act out a play; or create special recipes that belong to only you and your children.
- Let children discover who they are, and what they enjoy by giving them plenty of opportunities to engage in unstructured free-play.
- Teach Kids Ways To Sooth
Give children soothing activities to help them relax during times of stress. The repetitive motion of kneading play dough has a comforting effect, and can help kids focus on something positive.
Encourage your child to play with other children. This helps him to learn the value of sharing and friendship. It takes time for children to learn how to be a good friend.
- Widen Their World
Get your family involved in the community in some way. Kids need to learn to care about their environment, or other people - ie the elderly - and to take responsibility for making the world a better place.
- Nap Tip
When children are napping, DO NOT keep the house totally quiet. Just do your normal activities. They will usually grow up to be good sleepers.
