Chalk Drawing Art Activity For Children
by Aunty
Art Activity For Children: Chalk Drawing My nephew came to visit us from Vietnam, and as it is very hot there and he lives in an apartment, it is difficult to play outside. This is a very simple art activity for children, all it requires is a driveway and a packet of chalks! There is no clean up, as the picture will eventually wash away in the rain. Vincent loves Lightening McQueen, so that was the first thing he wanted to draw. He is a very detailed child with an amazing sense of perspective for his age - he was not even 5 when he did this! He meticulously drew the car, complete with the eyes for headlights, talking all the time as he drew, and the result was fantastic as you can see from the photos! We often used to give the kids chalks to draw with outside when my children were younger, and you can incorporate games such as hopscotch, or maths games if you want something more educational. You could have a quiz and get them to draw specific shapes or get kids to draw around the outside of each other. If you have a group of children, you can have a theme and they all can draw things for the theme, say under the sea, or a garden. I've used chalk drawings as a fundraiser for a school fete. We ran a competition, grouped according to ages and gave each entrant their own space and a packet of chalks. People paid a $1 to vote for the best drawing in each category, and of course the winners got a prize. So, simple art activity for children, that costs very little, but can be used in a variety of ways. |
Annie RecommendsThere is so much confusing information out there about parenting, it can be hard to know how to cover all bases. If you are worried about your child's development in some areas, or want some ongoing expert parenting tips, then check out Dr Rosina's Inspired Children - Life Skills for Kids. Benefits for Parents
Dr. Rosina McAlpine is an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, and has received numerous awards for her work in education. Her program is a holistic approach to child development spanning 7 key areas of life. I think this is a great resource for busy Moms - it takes ages sifting and sorting what your child needs, or finding a great activity that has a good learning focus for your kids. It covers all bases, and makes it easy to spend quality time with your kids, knowing they are learning valuable skills that will be with them for life. Life Skills For Kids would also make a great resource for homes-schoolers.

In fact they don't even realize they are learning! Click N kids are using the Looney Tune Characters now in their phonics program, which of course kids just love. Featured SponsorWall Candy Art
