Decorated Easter Eggs

One of our Easter Traditions, is we decorate eggs as an Easter Craft activity. Older children like this activity, and they also makes lovely Christmas decorations if you put a hanger on them.

We make holes in the eggs first and blow out the egg, and wash them and let them dry.

Then we decorate the Easter Eggs using colored string - sometimes we dye this ourselves in Easter egg dye, sometimes I find colored string. You can also use embroidery threads or wool.

Using PVA glue we paint the glue on small sections at a time and then wind the string around the egg, changing colors to make patterns as we go. Then also over the top we might glue flower or squiggle shapes in a contrasting color.

We use egg cups or egg cartons to sit the eggs in as we work - sometimes it is easier to leave one end to dry and starting on another egg, rather than getting the eggs too messy with glue. If you do that, the string is less likely to slide as you are adding more.

These eggs look beautiful as the centerpiece on the table for Easter Lunch, and then we give an egg to each guest to take home. My Mother has a collection of about 20 eggs - as she has to take one from each child to make it fair! It's lovely to see the eggs from when the children were young, and then now they are older they do quite sophisticated designs on the Easter Eggs.

I hope you try our Easter Egg Crafts for kids, we have such fun making them.

Click N Kids would have to be one of my subscribers most popular programs, and from what they say, it is mostly because the kids have fun while they are learning. In fact they don't even realize they are learning! Click N kids are using the Looney Tune Characters now in their phonics program, which of course kids just love.
