EFT And School Anxiety

by Emily
(NZ)

Hi,

I tried EFT a little bit with my daughter. She is a very shy little girl, actually she is very like me at her age!

She has only just started school and is finding it very stressful. I have not used EFT on myself, but I thought, why not give it a go? I found the instructions reasonably easy to follow, and was reassured that I couldn't do anything wrong.

I couldn't really get her to use the 1 - 10 scale, I think she is probably a bit young to understand what that meant. So it was hard to see if it was making her feel better or not. In the end she got bored so I figured that was a good time to stop.

I didn't think much more of it for a day or two, then I realized she was bouncing out of bed and rushing to get dressed and pack her bag. What a difference! Before she was saying she was tired or she didn't want to pack her bag, or she had a tummy ache. This whole week I have dropped her at the gate, instead of having to take her into the class.

Maybe she has just got used to the routine, but I think this worked! I might give it a go myself next time!

Thank You

EFT Works!
by: Annie Desantis

Hi Emily,

Thanks for letting me know you tried EFT with your daughter. You did the right thing in stopping when she got bored, there is no point in forcing anything with EFT, it needs to be simple.

And also great feedback about the 1 - 10 scale, you are right it is a tricky concept sometimes with children. With younger kids I sometimes ask them what their problem looks like, or if it has a color. More often than not it will be dark, black, brown or red. Then you can check back and see if it is getting lighter or brighter after a few round of EFT.

I must confess, I don't use the 1 - 10 scale myself much! I'm a very visual person, so I often use an image instead to get feedback on the intensity.

For people or children that are more feeling orientated, (and I suspect your daughter may be more kinesthetic, given that she had a tummy ache!) you can ask them if there is somewhere in their body they feel the issue. Then they can notice if the feeling gets less.

Well done for trying it out, it really is a very simple technique that can be amazingly powerful.

Let me know if you try it on yourself!

All the best,
Annie Desantis

Click N Kids would have to be one of my subscribers most popular programs, and from what they say, it is mostly because the kids have fun while they are learning. In fact they don't even realize they are learning! Click N kids are using the Looney Tune Characters now in their phonics program, which of course kids just love.
