Esther Hicks - is it channelling?

The teachings of Abraham

Abraham, as "channelled" through Esther Hicks would have to be one of the foremost (leading edge they would say!) teachers of Law of Attraction on the planet today. Except, Abraham isn't on the planet today - well not in physical form anyway!

Abraham is a non-physical entity, or group consciousness, that teaches about Law of Attraction through Esther Hicks. The label Channel has been applied to Esther, but that is not how she describes herself, nor how Abraham refers to Esther.

From what I learn in the teachings of Abraham from the many CDs I listen to, I think that labelling Esther as a channel would be misleading, because the word channel, makes you think she is separate from this source of information/ knowledge that comes out of her mouth!

Abraham speaks through Esther Hicks, but says the information that comes through is in answer to the asking, initially from Jerry Hicks, Esther's husband. Now, with the Abraham Hicks material being more widely available, the information comes through in answer to questions many of us are putting out. (and not necessarily asking directly!). I know I have had many questions about why we are here, what is our purpose, and then the more tricky ones! Like how can little children be responsible for creating what I perceive as an unpleasant reality when they live on traffic islands in Mumbai, or are starving in camps in Niger.

Esther Hicks and Collective Wisdom

Abraham, doesn't speak as if their knowledge is separate from Esther, on the contrary, they teach that we all have access to source energy, and the wisdom of all that is, we ARE source energy. So from that point, what flows through Esther Hicks as Abraham, is also Esther, and indeed is also the collective wisdom of you and I! Abraham says they are the leading edge of all that we are, so what we put out in the way of thoughts, questions and desires, we are creating that which is Abraham! Whew! That gets a bit mind boggling sometimes!

I remember reading some of the Seth books by Jane Roberts, who went into a trance and Seth dictated and the material was transcribed by her husband. Seth teaches very similar material to Abraham, but Esther Hicks, it seems to me is more a part of the process.

Paying Tribute to the Teachings of Abraham

Many of the inspirational teachers/authors, such as Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, who wrote the forward to Ask and It is Given , and Louise Hay pay tribute to the wisdom in the teachings of Abraham. Louise Hay and Hay House are now the publishers of the Jerry and Esther Hicks' work with Abraham.

I've reviewed some of the publications by Jerry and Esther Hicks including the wonderful children's series about Sara. Actually I think the Sara Series are great at any age!

The teachings of Abraham

I first came across the teachings of Abraham many years ago with a tape set, that somewhere along the line I passed on to someone else, but at the time the teachings really resonated with me, although I did find some of the ideas hard to totally take on board. Then they popped back into my life a couple of years ago, with Ask and it is Given.

When we think about Source Energy (those of you familiar with the Abraham-hicks material will be used to that term) - substitute what ever feels right to you, God, Universal energy, The Source, Infinite love - they are just labels we have to use to try to have some way of describing All that there Is.

Abraham has described themselves as that pure joy, peak experience energy, bliss etc that we experience from time to time, and all wish we could feel more often.

That is the crux of the teachings that come through Esther Hicks, to help us to get to that more often! Because it isn't something that is outside of us, or we have to earn or evolve spiritually up certain levels.

We too are, as Abraham is, pure source energy, pure joy, pure love. We just are not as good as them at remembering that because we get sidetracked with the business of living in the physical, and we listen to the mad mind munchkin stories we tell ourselves!

Latest Teachings of Abraham

The Vortex arrived in my mailbox last week and it is probably the most relevant law of attraction book for parents I have come accross for a long time. Focusing on relationships Abraham, talks about the false premises we live our life by.

We build our belief systems based on false ideas, then of course collect evidence that reinforces them. Abraham always offers lots of processes to help you get back into alignment (The Vortex) of who you really are. Great stuff!

Jerry Hicks talks about Abraham being the purest form of love he has every experienced. Jerry is a voracious questioner - and it is largely due to his curiosity and his wanting to share what he was learning, that we have Abraham available to us so easily today.

I was so blessed to see Esther and Jerry Hicks (and Abraham!) in Sydney 2008. My husband and I attended with my daughter, and it was so inspiring. I was so lined up afterwards, I kept finding money - first $10, then $50. Then was given a free ticket to attend a Kylie concert that same night!
