Healthy Eating For Kids Tips

by Patricia

Parents have to set the tone for healthy eating for kids. If you don't teach them from an early age about good nutrition then they are not going to have a healthy attitude to food.

I have noticed many parents give their kids way too many treats and junk food and kids learn that they can harrass Mom until she gives in and gives a cookie.

Top Tips For Healthy Food For Kids

  • Kids are better with lots of healthy snack foods available. They don't have to have three big meals.

  • Yoghurt is a great snack food for kids - but avoid high sugar or artificially sweetened. It is cheaper to buy a big pack of unsweetened plain yogurt and add in fruit pulp or chopped fruit. The kids can help with this.

  • Fruit skewers or fruit salad

  • Freeze Fruit in Popsicles - or even freeze half banana's with a stick in it

  • Once your child is old enough - nuts are a great energy snack. (Not for Under Two years and be VERY careful of peanuts. They are also likely to be the highest allergy risk too.

  • Dips and raw or lightly cooked veges make a fun snack and you are much more likely to eat healthy food for kids and vegetables this way.

  • Hard boiled eggs - or mashed egg makes a good dip.

  • Roll up lettuce leaves with mashed vegetables or tuna.

  • Process dried fruit and ground nuts in a food processor and the kids can help make healthy fruit balls. You can roll them in coconut.

  • Tooth picks make healthy eating for kids easier and fun - they can stab up little pieces of chopped fruit, meat, cheese, veges - and can dip it into a dip.

Healthy Family

by Ifeoma Amadi
(Port-Harcourt Nigeria)

Healthy kids are reflections of a healthy parent.

We are the first role model that our kids know, living a healthy family lifestyle in our homes and family will truly reflect in their behaviour and as well contribute positively in the society.

A parent-child relationship is like a bank account. Every negative act - a frown, a slap, I'm busy, I don't have time for you, I don't care - is like a withdrawal from the account. In contrast, affection, caring actions are like deposits in the relationship account. If the withdrawal exceed the deposits, the relationship breaks down into mutual distrust and isolation - it becomes bankrupt.

Annie's Comment
Thanks for your tip Ifeoma, and I would add that applies to all areas of life - not just physical health.

We are our children's most powerful role model, so we need to be walking the talk and showing them how to live a happy, joyful, healthy and loving life.

Thank you :)
Annie D

Click N Kids would have to be one of my subscribers most popular programs, and from what they say, it is mostly because the kids have fun while they are learning. In fact they don't even realize they are learning! Click N kids are using the Looney Tune Characters now in their phonics program, which of course kids just love.
