Little House in the Big Woods
by
Laura Ingalls Wilder

by April Todd
(Crab Orchard, KY USA)

This is the first in the series about the pioneer girl who changed the way young girls look at the world through her tales of her youth.

I loved this book and all the books in the series as a child and could still curl up with them at any moment and read them from front to back and never blink.

I love the parts in this book where Laura is told stories by adults in her life. One of these, "Grandpa and the Panther" was a favorite of my little cousin when I was a teenager and he would ask for me to read it to him every time he came over. He memorized it to the point where he could tell anyone the story and he was only two or three at the time.

When I was in second grade, we were asked to pick a favorite book to link many activities to throughout the year. This was my pick so I got to construct my own cabin out of Popsicle sticks, draw pictures from scenes in the book and even bake and bring in a few of the goodies mentioned in the book for the classroom.

That is an experience in school that I will never forget and I could not have that experience if it had not been for this book.

Click N Kids would have to be one of my subscribers most popular programs, and from what they say, it is mostly because the kids have fun while they are learning. In fact they don't even realize they are learning! Click N kids are using the Looney Tune Characters now in their phonics program, which of course kids just love.
