Little Seeds Meditation For Children

Meditation For Children

This is a little guided meditation to do with children of all ages (I have even found that young teenagers have fun with this).

Have the child(ren) kneel on the floor, then curl over into as small a ball as they can make. Read the following slowly, pausing often to give the child(ren) an opportunity to visualize the images you are sharing with them.

"Imagine that you are a tiny little seed, hidden deep within the frozen winter soil. You have been sleeping beneath blankets of snow and frost for what seems like a very long time! You feel safe and quiet in your cool, dark home.

"One day, you notice a wonderful warmth on your back. It feels amazing! Your tiny little seed body feels like it just wants to stretch towards the light that you can sense above you.

"Slowly, you begin to open up. Feel yourself push through the soil and up towards the light. The light and warmth touch your upturned face, making it tingle with energy. A gentle Breeze ruffles past, bringing to you the sweet smell of grass and rain as She strokes your brightly colored petals.

"Stand and stretch up as high as you can, reaching for the Sun as He smiles down at you! Smile back at Him. What a beautiful little spring flower you are!"

That's a lovely meditation. It's Autumn here in Australia, so I forget, Easter in your part of the world is spring, so this is a lovely thing to do with children as a spring Easter Activity.

Children love guided meditations, particularly when they also act out part of it, I really like this one!

I love doing meditations with my 4 year old son. He is extremely "busy" for every waking hour of the day. Meditation has given him a wonderful reason to lie quietly for a few minutes while he visualizes, and I get to rub his feet while I speak. It's a lovely way for me to be able to serve my child, and I get to touch my little boy who is usually too "busy" to make time for cuddles.

Thank you for adding my submission, I hope it might help other parents to discover the wonderful world of Child Meditation. I don't know what we would do without it in our house!

I was born in South Africa, so I do remember Christmas day eating watermelon around the swimming pool :)
