Painted Glass Bowls
Art Activity For Children : Painted Glass Bowls
This is a great art activity, my sister got my kids a fantastic kit-set for Christmas that was 2 clear glass bowls - a good size for snacks. The kit comes with glass paint and you paint them and then bake them.
I guess you could buy the glass paint separately and paint any kind of clear glass object.
My kids just loved it, they decided to plan out their design first so they didn't mess up the glass, although you can wipe it off easily while it is still wet, so mistakes are easy to fix.
My son is very matter of fact and organized and he did a very geometric design using triangles and lines, which looks fantastic. My daughter is much more creative and spontaneous, and although she had drawn out a design that was swirly and had a mermaid on one side, she ended up changing her mind as she was painting, and ended up with little fish, seaweed and shells.
They are both really proud of their bowls, and are always very keen to use them if we have guests. Serving something on bowls they made themselves is a great way to showcase their art!
They are really keen to have another go, and I wondered about getting the kits again, so we could have matching sets - well at least matching colors, each one is different! Actually I wanted to do one too!
Clean up and preparation was pretty easy, just have to protect surfaces etc, but it was less messy than painting, as they have to be quite careful painting onto a 3D surface.
It may not be so suitable for younger children, although I think with supervision they could manage.
I haven't got photos of them, but I will try to take some and send them later.
Great fun!Editor's Note
