I love the work of Naomi Aldort, she is someone I very much resonate with. She emphasizes parenting is about respecting your child as an equal in the relationship. Whereas more often than not we see Parents as having most of the power.

"Every stage in a child's life is there for a purpose. If we can respect and respond to her needs fully during each stage of her life, she can be done with that stage and move on."

Understanding play being central to learning - for all ages, she encourages parents to get back in touch with their own joy and re learn to play.

Parenting is not about us having all the answers, or providing all the experiences, it is about allowing your child to unfold and explore in their own way. When Parents engage with children, we tend to take over the interaction based on what we think they need to learn, or how we want to play.

She even goes as far as saying we remain neutral, not even praising, because then we are making the experience good or bad based on our approval.

To truly allow your child to expand, let them direct the interaction and the game. Engage fully with them, but don't take over.

"We need to be interested - not interesting; let the child lead the game, and we join like a true partner."

Naomi's books challenges many traditional ideas of parenting. If you are willing to experiment and question and grow, then please read this book. You will find it inspiring, thought provoking, and your kids will LOVE it!

Awesome Parenting Book

Naomi Aldort is just such an inspiring woman, so gentle and calm and so peaceful. I LOVE her book and heard her speak a couple of months ago. I'd love to do a workshop with her sometime.

I also have some of her CDs and could listen to her voice over and over. Actually I do! I think her son has a CD out too, he is a Cellist.

She is one beautiful soul!
