The Enlightened Mom
If you are a Mom or love a Mom - don't miss this! Perfect timing for Mother's Day in some parts of the world!
Terri Amos-Britt has just released her new book, plus 25 beautiful guided meditations: "The Enlightened Mom: A Mother's Guide for Bringing Peace, Love & Light to Your Family's Life"
I've had the pleasure of reviewing this heartfelt book for Mom's. It's not about how to be a better Mom, although if you take the journey Terri guides us through, you can't help but become a more authentic Mom who follows her own wisdom, listens to her inner child, and connects deeply with God.
Terri's deep spirituality underpins the whole book, something she challenges us with in the first chapter - what is God to you? Loving energy of the Universe, The light, - a God of unconditional love? We are taken on a personal journey to discover our own connection - whatever words we use to describe God.
Each chapter has a focus for a powerful meditation or visualization built into it, and Terri has also recorded meditation CD's that you can purchase separately to enhance your journey. You don't have to buy the CD's, you can simply let her teachings unfold in your own way. I haven't heard the CDs yet, but Terry offers the first meditation download for free - and I think the power of being able to let go and let her guide us will be amazing.
Mom's who are running on empty are stressed, and are inclined to teach their children to be anxious or fearful. A Mom who is filled up and takes the time to tune in and get clear, is a wise Mom indeed. Each chapter in Terri's book takes us deeper into ourselves, befriending our inner child, meeting our Angel or Guide, and learning lessons from our challenges.
I particularly love the way Terri tells us to honor our feelings, if we squash them down we cannot let them go. I laughed when she said to say hello to whatever comes up when meditating or focusing on a visualization, instead of trying to make it go away.
I needed to read this book to the end to be able to review it, so although I have yet to take the time to do many of her processes, I found myself deeply touched by her honesty and the depth of her sharing. I cried reading about the messages her husband sent her, in the weeks after he died. On their 17th anniversary, 6 weeks after he passed away, he sent a little gold heart shaped dog tag.
This book is a blessing for Moms, learning to take the time to tune in, to listen to the messages that surround us every day. Being cradled by your angel, and held with love. Becoming an enlightened Mom will add an incredible richness to your family, but more importantly, it opens the door to being fully who you are. Learning to trust in our guidance, connect with God - in whatever way feels right is our anchor. Putting that connection and commitment above all else is living love.
